Greetings!
Hi all! I’m Nicola and have taken over the blog from Edward. Send ideas, comments, whatever…
And remember to tell me if you are planning an event, taken a cool photo or if you’ve seen something interesting in the city centre.
Richard Thompson, one of the worlds finest guitarists is playing at St. Davids Hall this Sunday. Tickets are still available!
Pub reviewed: Kings Cross, Caroline Street
Kings Cross on Caroline Street has been given the Pintof45 (local bloggers who review pubs, no-nonsense style) treatment and it’s in a spot of bother at the moment. As a long-standing gay pub its owners, Mitchell & Butler, plan to change it into an upmarket gastro-pub. But, the Pintof45 boys enjoyed their visit.
What's inside the mystery poles on The Hayes?
Ever wondered? Well, wonder no more. Celia over on the International Students in Cardiff blog takes her camera out to find out more. Good work.
City centre roadworks are back!

The workmen are back! After digging up Castle Street for a few weeks in October/November and laying some fancy paving and stopping the buses nearly killing everything - they’re not, quite, finished.
They’ve moved onto Quay Street and Womanby Street for a month.
A quick walk to Quay Street today by this blog saw them hard at work, leaving just a small space for pedestrians to get down to access St Mary Street (it was like one of those traffic light systems, everyone waiting for the old geezer to shuffle down before we all charged up). Although the workmen did have the Red Hot Chilli Peppers blaring out in a vain attempt to drown out their slab cutting.
There’s also one lane on Castle Street (outside Revolution/Blacks/Dempseys) closed to buses, so they will be lurching into the normal traffic lane for a short bit before turning left onto Westgate Street.
This is all part of the ‘Castle Quarter’ plan for the area of the city centre near the Castle (funny that). Let us know what you think of the roadworks.
